“Ever tried. Ever failed. No matter. Try Again. Fail again. Fail better.”
It’s been so long… but we won’t start making excuses. Instead, let’s get right back into it with two big announcements this week.
First up, the Riccardo Tisci and Nike collaboration.
Neither party has released details about the products but we do know that the pieces will have the NIKE RT logo and will launch this spring. Read more about the partnership and watch the video at Style.com. We can’t wait to see what the creative director of Givenchy has up his sports sleeve.
The other big news from the sports and fashion world is that Adidas relaunched the Stan Smith today. The 1973 Adidas original, popular among the fashion crowd including one of our style icons Céline’s Phoebe Philo (below), was named for the tennis pro, Stanley Roger “Stan” Smith. I remember boys wearing them when I was in university and I’ve never been a fan – something about the really round toe always bothered me – but since Philo can do no wrong…
Via Vanity Fair, Nike just released images of what Federer, Rafa, Serena and Maria will be wearing at Wimbledon later this month. Nothing shocking although, they did forget to add a pair of long, dangling earrings to Sharapova’s outfit and serious bling to Serena’s. And if you go to the VF link , read the paragraph below the images. Pippa Middleton is now a contributing editor to Vanity Fair? I sigh.
I saw a woman wearing a leopard-print jumpsuit, heels and a cobalt blue baseball cap in the bathroom at work last week. It wasn’t a good look. Then I saw the Max Mara Resort 2014 collection where every look included a colourful cap. I got annoyed.
I used to like caps on women. Or, maybe I just thought I did because they were meant to be ironic in that, here I am in my lace dress and stilettos completing my look with a baseball cap because I don’t really care even though I spent five hours getting ready way.
Now, I think unless you’re wearing a cap solely to protect your head and face from the sun and are looping your ponytail through the back old-school style, you just look obnoxious. Yes, I’m even looking at you, Dree Hemingway in your gorgeous white lace dress, sandals and your New York Yankees cap. And usually, you can do no wrong.
What did you do to me, leopard-print girl?
Oh and Nadal (a.k.a. Ocho) obviously gets a free cap pass today even though he looks so much better in the headband. Congratulations on your eighth French Open title, Rafa!
First off, my apologies for being AWOL for the past few weeks. I feel terrible as Sir Charles (Barkley) would say. So much to talk about in the coming weeks, but today, it’s all about The Masters.
With Eldrick Woods having his mojo back, the MSM has all but measured him up for his fifth green jacket. But over here, we are holding out hope that the presence of Miss Wozniacki will bring Rory McIlroy his first green jacket.
And there’s lots of style news in the world of golf as well. UNIQLO has appointed another global ambassador, bringing PGA Tour heartthrob Adam Scott into the fold. You can also see what some of golf’s biggest names will be wearing here. Our faves include a few GoS hall of famers, Luke Donald and Ian Poulter and we are slowly becoming fans of Graeme McDowell and his new line G-Mac by Kartel. As usual, the worst is Tiger Woods and his awful Nike outfits but Ashworth’s mystery entry is close behind.
Today it begins so say it with me: A B T! A B T! (a.k.a. anybody but Tiger)
