Euro 2012: Dress for Success

Before we get to our regularly scheduled program, we want to congratulate the Oklahoma City Thunder for winning the Western Conference Finals last night. Our love for Kevin Durant, Russell Westbrook, James Harden and the team runs deep here at GoS. We look forward to an epic NBA finals with the Thunder and another series of Russell Westbrook post-game outfits!

And now on to Euro 2012 news:

Euro 2012 starts tomorrow and MG is pumped that her native Poland is co-hosting with Ukraine. You can check out the entire tournament schedule here.

The story lines abound: Can the top-ranked Spanish team pull off a “three-peat?” Who will come out of the Group of Death? How will Cristiano Ronaldo’s hair look? How will Wayne Rooney’s new hair look? Can Italy possibly fix all of their match-ups? Can Poland win at least one game?

Here’s a quick look at a few of the hits and misses from the countries’ kits:

Sweden: Love both jerseys; the blue and yellow combo is outstanding.

The Netherlands: They can do no wrong and the team will have their opponents wishing they could change sides just for the jerseys.

France: This blue jersey is something Tiger Woods would wear. That is is not a good thing.

Croatia: Love the country, hate the checkerboard. Much better in blue with just a small amount of pattern on the shoulder. Is it me or does the mannequin on the right have man boobs?

Now, saving the best for last: the Italians are a force to be reckoned with. Dolce & Gabbana has created the entire wardrobe for the Italian National Team and as per the initial sketches, D&G’s off-pitch attire looks stellar. You can see all of the sketches here (my favourite is the fifth ensemble featuring a blue track suit top with wool sleeves and hood, paired with the small collar dress shirt, sleek tie and denim trousers).

Go Poland! Go! (MG added that.)
