As fashion month ends today in Paris, here are some of our favourite, and maybe not-so-favourite sport-inspired looks from the Paris runways.
As T: The New York Times Style Magazine put it: “The strong white sole on Stella McCartney’s shoes drew the eye down and gave everything…a sporty, snearker-y fell.” (Loved) And on the right, Balenciaga’s lace-up pumps. (Not so much but that’s a rare sentiment when it comes to Balenciaga shoes for me.)
It’s Claire Waight Keller’s second season at Chloé and for fall, she focused on sportswear with a sophisticated twist. I love the red sweatpants and how she paired them with a lace blouse and red clutch, but as soon as you do the same pant silhouette in this mint green and pair it with an oversized sweater, the look becomes frumpy.
For the men, a couple of ski-inspired looks from Moncler Gamme Rouge. (Are those roller blades in the right photo? In the snow?) I like the puffer-pea coat combo in the first look but the red jacket on the right is too feminine.
And finally, a street-style photo by Kerry Pieri for Harper’s Bazaar with the caption: “It takes a special girl to make sweatpants look Paris Fashion Week-ready.” Yes it does, and this young woman, although I respect her effort, is not that special girl.
