We knew it was only a matter of time before Rory took his spot at the top, and it happened this past weekend. The likable, young Northern Irishmen took over the world No. 1 ranking in an impressive fashion by winning the Honda Classic, and holding off one Eldrick Woods. (With all due respect to Luke Donald.)
McIlroy looked cool in his bright-blue-on-white Oakley pairing, and we especially like the outfit-matching belts he’s been displaying lately. But I think we can all agree that Rory needs to put this look to bed because the world No. 1 needs to look the part 24/7. (If you’re reading this Rory, we’re available for styling.)
Now, if only Wozniacki could close like Rory, they could become sports first ever dual No. 1 power couple! We can dream can’t we? (MG approves of the aviators and the scarf, by the way.)
To be fair, we will give Eldrick his due (his game that is). His charge on Sunday was impressive, but as per usual he did so wearing his terrible Sunday style. Baggy black MC Hammer pants? Check. Too large red Nike shirt? Check. Lame hat with equally lame “TW” logo? Check.
