As the PGA tour makes its way through California this month, our eyes are on the footwear—especially the shoes some of the young stars are wearing. Sadly, there are still way too many professional golfers, with their baggy shirts and white-on-brown saddle Footjoys, giving the sport a bad style name. But the times, they are a changing.
Game of Style fave Ryan Moore was spotted wearing the True Tour black/white shoes from True Linkswear; Keegan Bradley was rocking Oakley’s new Cipher golf shoe and Rickie Fowler and his Puma ensembles continue to be must-see TV. The game is getting younger, and you can see the style starting to shift.
It’s only a matter of time before Canadian James Lepp’s Kikkor Golf brand takes off. Although it doesn’t have a presence on the big tours yet, that just means you can get ahead of the game by picking up a pair and then bragging to your friends about how you beat the professionals to the punch.
And if you really want to take it to a new level, we recommend the New Heights Whiteouts (top photo). A high-top golf shoe? You have our attention. And if the high-tops are too far out of your comfort zone, ease into Kikkor’s laid-back style with the Pure Black Eagle, a nice throwback to the 60s.
