It’s a holiday tradition in Canada and probably the closet thing we have to March Madness. The World Junior Hockey Championship is a huge deal north of the 49th parallel and it gives us a yearly look at kids playing the game they love. No bloated salaries, no contract distractions, just young men laying it all out for their country. As a fan, you can’t help but fall in love with these teens year after year.
Powerhouses Canada, Russia and the U.S. all promise to be fierce forces and will likely take another run at gold. Not a hockey fan? Just give it a period or two, trust us. As for style, here’s the rundown:
Canada has gone retro this year with a new jersey design: a vintage-inspired maple leaf and hockey stick. Russia, the U.S. and the Czech Republic will be flying their national colours of red, white and blue. The Team Canada maple leaf will always be where our heart is, but we would be lying if we didn’t disclose our sweet spot for “Tre Kronor,” Sweden’s national jersey. It’s a Game of Style first ballot Hall-of-Famer! Uniforms do not get sweeter than this and this is coming from a Polish-Canadian.
It looks like Anna Dello Russo is a fan as well. Just saying…
